History of Surprise Arizona
The town of Suprise was originally a one square mile farmland founded in 1938 by Homer Ludden and his real estate partner, Flora Mae Statler said she would be “surprised if the town ever amounted to much”, and this is how the town got its name. Today, it is now one of the ten largest cities in Arizona. The median age of residents in the city is 36 years old. While Surprise has grown into one of Arizona’s fastest growing cities, there are still working farms and local farm stands throughout the community.
